We need water in California, but do we really need to flood fertile valleys? Here's one story of the flooding of the beautiful Berryessa Valley (which included the city of Monticello) in California in 1957 (not to mention the loss of the Hetch Hetchy valley

). I think there must be a better way to provide water to residents, ranchers, and farmers in California--beyond reducing shower time, eliminating lawns, and flooding valleys. Who's working on sensible solutions? Apparently not Jerry Brown.
